First of all let me thank you for visiting Save The Children’s Eyesight Charity website. Edward and Marion Scott are the founders of this website that supports the Choroideremia Research Foundation Inc., All of the donations we receive go directly to this foundation for research to find a cure for this rare disease that causes blindness in children.

Our mission is to raise funds through donations, fundraisers, Sponsorships, membership and our online Auction to help prevent blindness to children. It is estimated that 1370 children go blind everyday. Our first goal is to raise enough revenue to find a cure for the Choroideremia disease that has drastically affected our family.

Our second goal is to continue supporting research of other diseases that cause blindness in children. No child should have to go through this world blind because of a disease that could be prevented.

Introduction

Hello! We are Marion and Ed Scott, a school teacher and a police officer dedicated to serving their community for years. This site was developed and donated by our family and friends to find a cure for this devastating disease called Choroideremia and prevent children from going blind. On March 17, 2003 a Genetic Ophthalmologist in New York City diagnosed our two sons as having a very rare blinding disease called Choroideremia. Our daughter is also a carrier and could pass the disease on to her children.

Choroideremia is a genetic X link disease that causes blindness in males. Females are the carriers and can pass it on to their children. This disease develops slowly in the eye, causing peripheral vision loss, and by the time the males are in their thirties/forties they are legally blind and can no longer function at work or drive a car.

While researching this disease we have discovered that there is very little or no money for research from industries, organizations or government agencies. The reason for this is the disease is very rare and affects only several thousand Americans.

We are determined to find a cure for this disease so that our children and other people suffering form the disease will be able to lead productive lives. Finding a cure for Choroideremia will also help to discover cures for other eye diseases. Won’t you please help by donating money or a item for our online auction?
